COACH GREG GAY
Greg has been happily married for 33 years to Amanda, principal of Pierce County Middle School. He is the proud father of Nate Gay, who resides in Greenville, South Carolina, with his wife, Victoria, and their daughter, Blyler.
After recently retiring from a career in education, Greg has brought his passion for sports to SEE, where he now helps instruct youth in baseball and softball. His experience includes 21 years of coaching baseball, with three of those years at the collegiate level. Greg also spent 10 years coaching football, with 8 at the varsity level, before concluding his coaching journey with 5 years dedicated to softball.
Greg served as a baseball varsity head coach for 18 of his 26 years in coaching, amassing 378 wins with a .722 winning percentage. Under his leadership, his teams won eight region championships and consistently achieved top-three final state rankings, including a runner-up finish in 2012.
He was recognized multiple times as Region Coach of the Year and was honored once as the GHSA State Coach of the Year. Over the course of his tenure, 39 of his players earned collegiate scholarships, a testament to his ability to develop talent and guide athletes toward success at the next level.
Greg is excited to join the staff, where he is dedicated to helping the youth in our communities reach their full potential in baseball and softball. Utilizing advanced digital software and high-speed camera technology, Greg provides specialized instruction in the fundamentals of hitting and the catching position.
